Bottom line: 2016 Hellcats had an upgraded ("improved") DS with a different part #.

Any 2015 Cats that pretzel their DS get the 2016 DS, not the earlier version.

If you don't race your Cat on a strip or track with super-sticky DRs, you've got no issues, even if you run something like Nitto DRs on the street or highway.

If your 2016 (or newer) DS does happen to pretzel during street or highway driving, it's covered fully under the FCA/Dodge warranty.
all I am planning is playing a little on the street with DRs . My Cat is a 16 so I am assuming it has the updated driveshaft

2016 Hellcat + DR + Street Driven = No Problem. The problem is the dead hook on a track with traction compound...it is more than the stock DS can handle.

There is also a thread under the TSB section detailing the driveshaft, looks for noise replaces the shaft. I think even if you don't have a noise, if it has the older PN they will upgrade it to the new one. I still wonder if its the upgraded one that in the Demon. Will just have to see if someone can verify PNs when they come out

Kingpin is a local guy and I will introduce him to you. Regular at guptils

Take care HR
Hey MAB cool look forward to it... won't be long and we'll all have the Cats out!

The Demon shaft has been listed as improved over current production. I expect it won't be the same one that is installed in base Hellcats.

Doesn't mean that the upgraded one in the TSB couldn't also be the one that is now in the Demon. If they developed one that was stronger then the original DS, might have helped spread out costs of just doing them across the aboard. Instead of making a stronger one for one, then another stronger one for another. Just looking at cost wise etc, might have made sense for them to do it that way. But like i said hopefully someone can verify the PNs when they become available

Then you should have no issue with DS durability, but if you do it's covered.

Yes.

I can attest the '16 driveshaft can't reliably handle a sticky tire with stock power at the track.

I was talking to a friend today that works at a high performance shop and he told me that the stock driveshaft
on stock Challenger Hellcats are failing . He want on to say that Chrysler is covering them under warranty but when they go then can destroy other parts of the car including the floorboards.
Is anyone out there hearing about this ? or had it happen to them ?

thats a load of bull..

Did the warranty cover it?
They covered it but the service work orders indicated it was replaced for customer satisfaction. Basically it comes out of FCAs insurance pot of money vs warranty.

So are the 2017's any better or should I just get an after market DS and be done with it. Planning on putting MT's on for track this season at Mission Raceway
I'm curious about this.. 2017 DS upgraded over the 15's / 16's? I bought some Nitto's 555 .. now I'm worried about going to the track.. all else stock.
